Residential Interior Designer

Overview:
Big River Builders is looking for a highly motivated interior designer to add to our team! Big River Builders is a family-owned local residential construction company that specializes in custom home building, design, remodeling, custom carpentry, fine finish carpentry and woodworking. We're growing and are seeking an experienced Interior Designer who is creative and inspired by challenging projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong sense of design trends, attention to detail, a positive attitude and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. This position will be responsible for collaborating with our design team, architects, project estimator, and project managers in executing the daily design needs of the company while using their creativity and project management skills to create functional and appealing spaces for clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background sketching and proposing design plans, on site measurements and the ability to think and take action in pressure situations and quickly adapt and creatively come up with solutions to unexpected challenges.

Responsibilities:

  1. Works closely with clients to design custom homes that meet clients' design needs and preferences throughout the construction process from conception to completion.
  2. Sketches design plans using computer-aided design software.
  3. Visits job sites to analyze space, design needs and purpose of the space.
  4. Oversees multiple design projects and arranges client meetings to keep everyone involved in the project and to maintain build schedule and completion dates.
  5. Leads meetings with clients, determines clients' needs, designs the space, and assists in selecting materials, finishes and other details.
  6. Must be a team player, open to constructive criticism/other points of view, and have a positive attitude.
  7. Assists with creating content for social media accounts and scheduling of posts and stories.


Requirements:
  1. Interior design experience.
  2. Experience working with SketchUp, Chief Architect or another design program completing 3-D interior renderings, design concepts, etc.
  3. Ability to read and interpret job plans/blueprints and specs.
  4. Strong creativity, artistic ability and imagination.
  5. Organized, structured, and a master of getting things done.
  6. Willingness to quickly adapt to change and new ideas.
  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  9. Strong leadership and project management skills.
  10. Ability to always maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  11. Must be able to perform other job duties as assigned.
  12. Some out-of-town travel - no overnight stays.
  13. Valid Driver's License.


Preferences:
  1. Construction knowledge or background.
  2. Experience using CoConstruct/Builder Trend.
  3. Bachelor's degree in interior design or related coursework.

Pay: Competitive based on experience. This position is a full-time employee position, do not apply if you are wanting to subcontract as an independent designer.

Schedule:
  • Flexible schedule (Monday to Friday)
  • 40+ hours a week
